Family Matters - Builds Community - Builds Us
The Bible emphasizes the importance of family, highlighting it as a foundational institution created by God with specific roles and responsibilities for its members.
It stresses the need for ahavah - love, respect, and unity within the family unit, while also providing guidelines for parents and children.
Colossians 3:18–21
Wives, submit- adapt to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. 19 Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. 20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. 21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.
Psalm 133:1 speaks to the beauty and blessing of family unity, stating, "How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity.
This may seem like a "Tall Order or Challenging Undertaking Yet we were given the strength through good old fashioned choice & endurance.
Ecclesiastes 9:11 states that the race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to the skillful; but time and chance happen to them all.
Finally - building a covenant with others involves creating a solemn, binding agreement based on mutual promises, loyalty, and trust. Unlike a modern legal contract, a biblical covenant creates a kinship relationship, uniting parties as if they were family.
Consistency over time will produce amazing results!
